Flip! Previews 2010 Telly

A new year is upon us and with it brings some brand new telly. Kicking us off is those tear away teens in Bristol, Oh yes its Skins. Like with the last cast on Skins, this will be the new generations final series. The new series, which sees all of the series three cast reprise their roles in eight brand new episodes – two shorter than the previous.

Skins executive producer Bryan Elsley promises that the cast have stepped up and broken through to new levels of boldness. Stories are Funny, disrespectful, edgy, but also poignant and heartfelt.

We will also see guest appearances from the likes of Chris Addison, Tanya Franks, Paul Kaye, Pauline Quirke, Simon Day, Dudley Sutton, Hugo Speer, Jenny Eclair and Will Young. Even that’s not enough for you, the creators of Skins also bring us a brand new series of everyone’s favourite family, Its the Gallaghers (and we don’t mean Noel and Liam)

Oh course we’re talking about Shameless. Its back and bigger than ever. Frank’s finally  hit the big 5-0, which depresses him until he meets local librarian Libby ). Then he meets her mother Patty, who might just put a spanner in the works.

The Maguire family prepare to welcome a new addition to the family. Its a bouncing Baby Boy and Karen and Jamie are the parents.

This years Shameless is set to be about Christenings, riots, salsa, school reunions, sibling rivalry, shoot-outs, cross-dressing, weddings, gigolos and messages from beyond the grave, So looks set to be a good series. Sticking with Channel 4 now its time to talk about 8 Out Of Ten Cats.

Jimmy Carr hosts proceedings as team captains Sean Lock and Jason Manford both return to captain teams in a battle to find out who knows what is going on in Britain today. On what other show could you learn how many born-again Christians have illegally downloaded music, how many Brits would prefer a trip to a car boot sale than a theme park, and what women drivers would rather hit than a rabbit?

Over to the states now and here is what E4 are bringing to our teleboxes. The Cleeveland Show is yes you guessed it, a spin off from Family Guy. Cleveland has kind of had enough in Quahog – he  realizes that he wants his own friends, his own sidekicks, his own stories. So he sets out to California and we are lucky enough to follow his adventures….or unlucky depending on how you look at it.

Now if you thought High School Musical was cheesy your gonna love Glee – The hit new musical comedy series that is taking the US charts by storms coming to British Shores . The series follows optimistic high school teacher Matt Schuster as he attempts to inspire a group of oddball teenagers to realise their true star potential and restore the school’s show choir, aka ‘Glee Club’, to its former singing glory. Believe it or not its a lot better than it sounds.

Moving over to More 4 and Brothers And Sisters is Back. The critically acclaimed family saga returns for a fourth series  Tommy has fled to Mexico, isolating himself from his entire family. Back home, Sarah  struggles to allow herself to experience real love again with a mysterious Frenchman, while the family business is in deep financial trouble again.

Kitty and Robert have fallen in love with their new baby but have to work on keeping their marriage alive in the wake of Robert’s campaign for Governorship. Saul  has finally chosen to live his own life as an openly gay man, while looking after the new addition to the Walker clan, half-brother Ryan. Can Nora keep everyone together, Only one way to find out.

On the BBC, Being Human is back on BBC Three- Russell Tovey, Lenora Crichlow and Aidan Turner return in the second series of the hit drama playing three housemates who also happen to be a werewolf, a ghost and a vampire. The series gets off to a gripping start as the consequences of George murdering Herrick begin to catch up with him. A more in depth review of the series will be coming soon on Flip!

Now from the creators of Two Pints See’s a return of Coming Of Age - Matt, Chloe, DK, Jas and Olly are back in a brand-new series of the comedy that shows life from a teenage perspective. Episode one sees Chloe finally losing her virginity to Matt, who spreads the good news … via Facebook, Myspace, Bebo and bascially anyone who will listen.

We will be bringing you more Coming Of Age News soon, but now its all about the return of Hustle.

At the heart of the show is Ali, impetuous, feisty, neurotic, a total mess in her personal life but extraordinarily talented in her professional life as a fashion designer, mid-twenties, single, fiercely loyal to her tightly-knit group of friends, Alex, Mimi and Lydia. The Hustle team are back in business and this time the con really is on.

Making a return for a second series is Survivours – Abby and her mismatched family of survivors are in disarray.Picking up from the moments after the thrilling cliff-hanger to the first series and the survivors are now struggling not just with the difficulties of day-to-day life amidst the ruins of the post-virus apocalypse but also with the threat of other emerging communities and the machinations of the sinister Lab.

Now its time to tell you about a new series on BBC One – Material Girl, a romantic comedy about a young fashion designer battling an evil ex-boss, a sexy-but-devilish business partner and snobby fashionistas to get her break in work and love.

Set in the bustling, creative hot-bed of Brick Lane, Ali Redcliffe who sets out to make a name for herself as a fashion designer, in the only way she knows how, through sheer hard work and talent. The series features a few names and faces you know and worth a look at at least.

Also returning to the BBC this year is Doctor Who. Back for a full series with Matt Smith taking over the Tardis, its gonna be interesting to see what will happen. Joining the Doctor in the Tardis is Little-known actress Karen Gillan. Will they live up to everyone’s expectations? Only time will tell.

Ashes To Ashes is back for its Third and Final series. Following on from the cliff hanger at the end of series Two, we are dying to know what will happen. Flipping over to ITV now, we are set to see the return of Law and Order UK. The shows second series picks up on the events of the previous series as well as bringing us exciting new story lines.

And finally. Reality show Strictly Come Dancing on Ice…oh sorry Dancing On Ice is back with 14 new skaters taking to the ice. We shall bring you more news as soon as we have it.

That’s the telly guide for 2010.
