The Stars of 2010

starsPicture 2Here at Flip Towers we bloody love new music, so much so that we want to let you know the stars of tomorrow today. So prepare to open your ears and your minds as we bring you our predicted stars of 2010. Kick us off is a half Greek plate smashing half Welsh lady named Marina Diamandis (or her stage name Marina Diamandis). Her musical style ranges from keyboard-based ballads to more up-tempo new wave-style songs with full band backing.

Already tipped to be the new Florence and the Machine, Marina and the Diamonds looks set to be the big act of 2010. Make sure you look for her debut studio album ‘The Family Jewels’ set to be released in February.

Next up is Delphic. This Mancunian indie four piece have already played all the big festivals this summer  and are aiming to be the future sound of Manchester. Delphic are already popular with indie and dance kids alike after supporting acts such as Orbital and Kasabian. Could Delphic go down in Manchester music history along with the likes of Oasis, Joy Division, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Elbow and The Courteeners to name just a fistful. Only time will tell.

Staying up in Manchester, next up is Hurts. This electro pop loving stylish duo seem to be stuck in the land of Monochrome, a color photo of them is harder to find than a needle in a haystack. Even if they don’t make it big their videos are definitely worth a watch at least.

Now if your in to your female singers like Little Boots and Pixie Lott, your gonna love this little lady. Introducing Ellie Goulding. Not only is she stunning to look at but she sounds quite great too. Working on her debut studio album with a certain Mark Ronson be sure to expect big things from Miss Goulding.  The BBC say “Goulding’s distinctive high-wire voice carries passionate lyrics, occasionally being cut and spliced with club-friendly electro results” We couldn’t agree more.

Thats your roster of hot new talent, but what can we expect from the current acts of 2009? Well we can help you out there too.

Arcade Fire are set to release a new album next year. This will be the bands first album in two years. Unfortunately their is very little details to go on but what we can tell you is the band have been working with Coldplay engineer Markus Dravs.

American Rockers Kings Of Leon will start recording their new album next year, after a mamouth year of success for their album “Only By The Night” which featured songs such as ‘Sex is On Fire’, we expect big things.  Fellow American Beyonce is also set to release a new album in 2010, but rumour is that it will have an Indie theme. Oh dear. We hope this is not the case.

California based rockers Avenged Sevenfold have announced that they will commence work on a brand new studio album next year along with a world tour to support the release. We don’t know much more than that but we can expect another brilliant album.

Back over in the UK now, Pete Doherty’s band Babyshambles have outlined their plan to release a new album in 2010. Apparently the band have been quoted as buying “Shit loads of equipment of EBay”. Next up is a favourite of ours. Tracks from ‘Oracular Spectacular’ were everywhere in 2008, two years later there is much anticipation surrounding the new MGMT album ‘Celebration’. We cant wait to here it ourselves and were sure were not alone.

Finally, ‘One Life Stand’ has recently been announced by the band Hot Chip and is due for release early February. This will be followed by a tour of the UK starting February 10th and a US tour alongside The xx later in the year.

Thats your previews of Talent for 2010
