It may sound like a dream to most of you, but this new craze could kill you. The Jab in question, is a synthetic hormone that when injected stimulates the melanin in your body.Melanotan hasn’t been cleared to be used in the UK but some websites are already selling it online. The drug stimulates the pigment that determines how dark your skin is. So the more of it you have, the browner you skin is.

The people responsible for regulating medicines are warning people not to take the risk of using it, as testing hasn’t finished on the drug and it hasn’t been passed as safe for human use.

Another concern is that users of Melanotan dont know how to safely inject themselves and the websites offering it don’t give any proper medical advice. The medicines regulator Claire Tilston says

“It’s a very complicated product to use and should not be used without proper advice.

A major concern has been raised by needle exchanges across the country that more and more people want syringes for use with Melanotan.
