Salford is home of many great things; The Lowry center, The Imperial War Museum, Salford Reds and now the Ting Tings :)

Indie dance duo, the Ting Tings, is made up of Jules and Katie who believe they have configured a sound that represents the pure heart of British pop. If the Spice Girls and Take That is anything to go by id seriously re evaluating that claim. Tings Tings have recently been nominated the Ones to watch for 2008 by BBC 6 music and we couldn’t agree more.

Tings Tings have just knocked Madonna of the top of charts, had there track “Shut up and Let me go” featured in the latest Ipod Commercial and playing sell out gigs everywhere. So a bright future for the Salford duo then?

Cast your mind back to 2006. Tony Blair still prime minister and a hot and coming band are emerging. Dear Eskimo remember them? We at Flip! Towers certainly don’t but believe it or not, this was the previous name of the Ting Tings before creative differences and the management style of the record label caused them to split.

A new style and a new name saw the Ting Tings hit the scene, with sell out gigs in their home city of Salford. With the media spotlight glaring, The Ting Tings were soon snapped up by leading record label Sony BMG and the rest is history. Surely the same won’t happen again? Only time will tell but for now the future looks bright.

Set to play at Oxygen festival, T in the Park and the Reading & Leeds festival it should hopefully be a good summer for the Ting Tings and for music lovers alike. They are scheduled to go on their first tour of the UK during the next few months, and are also planning to go back to the USA before the end of 2008. In addition to this, if all goes as planned, they will be playing most of the summer’s major festivals.

I shall leave you with this video.
